DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION OF A COMPETITIVE ADAPTATION LEVEL ASSESSMENT INSTRUMENT FOR YOUTH SOCCER

Proposals related to Long-Term Athlete Development and Sport Pedagogy have emphasized the importance of competitive adaptations that aim to respect the physical, social, and psychological characteristics of children. This research focuses on children's soccer competitions organized by the Amazonas Football Federation (FAF) with the following objectives: 1) the development of an evaluative tool for the level of competitive adaptation in youth soccer; 2) analyzing the degree of appropriateness of youth competitions organized by FAF. Through document analysis and discussions with the literature, we have developed indicators and scores for the instrument. Considering a scale of 1 to 4, where 1 represents more adapted competitions and 4 represents traditional format competitions, the under-9 competition received a score of 2.2±0.9, and the under-11 competition received a score of 2.5±1.2, highlighting FAF's efforts to promote competitions adapted to children. However, the categories of 'Athlete Participation' and 'Competitive Model' require more pedagogical attention.
