Abstract

The objective of this research is to develop a critical analysis regarding the participation of women in different categories of jumping in the state of Paraná with the knowledge of gender studies. Data collection was carried out through the analysis of the General Rankings of the Paraná Equestrian Federation from the years 2018 to May 2023. The data shows that the percentage of women performing in the 0.80 cm category is considerably higher than the percentage of men, while that in the 1.40 m category the percentage of women is significantly lower than the percentage of men. These data are repeated in all the years analyzed, demonstrating that there is a tendency for women to evade the transition from amateurism to high-performance sport. We understand that the normative gender issues that influence the education of women and men persist, generating inequality marked by disadvantages in the living conditions of athletes in relation to men, especially in professional categories.
