Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic promoted changes in the lifestyle of adolescents due to social distancing and isolation, more time spent in sedentary behavior, changes in mental health, making it difficult to practice physical activity and its protective factor. Then, this study aimed to evaluate the relationship of screen time and physical exercise in this period and the effects of these behaviors (sedentary and active) on adolescents' health. A literature review was carried out under the PRISMA recommendations in the PudMed and LILACS databases, with 21 studies included. It was found that the period of the Covid-19 pandemic significantly in a negative way impacted the mental health of adolescents and that screen time has a directly proportional relationship with the worsening of this situation, inversely influenced by the practice of physical activity. It, when more practiced, promoted improvements in mental health and well-being when associated with a reduction in screen time.
