PRESENTATION
In 2017 the Symposium on Racket Sports began its history. Idealized and organized by the Interdisciplinary Research Group on Racquet Sports (GRIPER) of the School of Applied Sciences from the University of Campinas (FCA – UNICAMP), being promoted annualy.
For the 2019 edition, the organizers invited Brazilian researchers with solid performance and production on the Racket Sports to a meeting, in order to plan an expansion for the next edition.
That meeting was the starting point for the Congress of Racket Sports, with GRIPER-FCA-UNICAMP and the School of Physical Education – UNICAMP as the event’s organizing institutions bringing together 13 other supporting institutions: Brazilian Table Tennis Confederation (CBTM), University Open to Senior Citizens (UNATI-UNIVASF), School of Physical Education, Physioterapy and Dance (ESEFID-UFRGS) – Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), the Training Department of the Brazilian Tennis Confederation (CBT), the Paraná Tennis Federation (FTP), São Paulo Tennis Federation (FPT), Brazilian Badminton Confederation (CBBd), School of Physical Education (ESEF – Jundiaí), Special Olympics, University of São Paulo City (UNICID), Badminton em Rede, Feevale University and the São Paulo Squash Federation (FPS).
The Congress was initially planned to take place in person on September 19 and 20, 2020. However, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the date was changed to April 10 and 11, 2021, and the event taking place online. The event put together more than 30 national and international guests, speakers and mediators and reached more than 1.000 registrations, with the presentation of more than 30 works (scientific and experience reports) in a poster or oral presentation.
We hope that the Congress can establish itself as a successful environment for the development of applied scientific research that will reach more and more those who are daily at the tables or courts of each racket sport and provide one more step for their professional performance.
