Resumo

The literature points out that the practice of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu promotes unique hematological and biochemical alterations when compared to those caused by other physical exercises in active subjects. Establishing profile values of Brazilian jiu-jitsu athletes separated by fight categories is necessary. The study aimed to draw a profile of physical conditioning, anthropometry, body composition, hematology, biochemistry and urinalysis of high-performance Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes from different competitive categories. The sample consisted of 12 (N=12) Brazilian jiu-jitsu athletes, separated by their respective fighting categories (6 athletes from the lightweight category and 6 athletes from the heavyweight category). Hematological, biochemical, urinalysis, anthropometric, body composition and physical conditioning parameters were analyzed. Statistically significant differences were found for body mass, body mass index, skinfolds, body fat percentage, lean mass, fat mass, right and left shoulder horizontal abduction, resting heart rate, platelets, pH, and urine density. Values for neck and shoulder perimetry, bone diameter values for bistyloid, radio-ulnar and bimalleolar, goniometry tests for horizontal abduction - right and left shoulder, right and left shoulder abduction, trunk flexion, right and left hip flexion, hip flexion and urinalysis of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu athletes that, until now, have not been reported in the literature for this specific group, making the results of the present study relevant in the modality. Profile studies for Brazilian jiu-jitsu athletes are still scarce, as well os approaches that separate athletes by fight categories.
