Abstract

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, emergency remote learning has suddenly become a constant and unavoidable reality for academic institutions around the world. Likewise, since that date, scientific research on this form of teaching began to proliferate, focusing on the different particularities, experiences, and impacts on the various teaching and learning process. In this article, we address the teaching of Portuguese in the Chinese university setting, focusing on the transition from remote to classroom teaching. Based on our empirical experience and dialogue with students from the University of Sun Yat-sen (Canton), we reflect on the contributions and innovations that remote learning has bequeathed or introduced in face-to-face teaching of PLE at this institution.
