Abstract

Libras – The Brazilian Sign Language has been consolidated as an important area of studies, in many aspects. Several theories are applied to it. Nevertheless, the structuralist linguistic paradigm, to date, has not been fully and thoroughly understood and applied in sign language. This article aims to apply structuralist linguistic theory in sign language, analyzing and describing Libras signs in its second joint. Based on Saussure and Martinet, some Libras signs will be presented, articulated in their smallest parts, and described having as graphical support the writing of VisoGraphy signs.
