Abstract

This text focuses on the politician, writer, and poet Noraldino Lima, a public figure in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais’ scene, at the beginning of the 20th century, studied in this article as an intellectual defined according to the concepts of two lines of Italian thought. The first, by the thinker Antonio Gramsci, who defines two types of intellectuals, traditional and organic, and the second, by the philosopher Norberto Bobbio, who defines the intellectual as a man of culture. The purpose of this text is to discuss how two different lines of thought can be applied to the same object of study: the History of Education.
