Risk Evaluation to the Cultural Heritage of the State of Mato Grosso

The article aimed to identify the severity of the risks related to five properties selected based on their cultural significance: the Yaokwa Ritual, the Santa Elina Archaeological Site, the Arraial de São Francisco Xavier da Chapada Archaeological Site, the Protected Areas Complex of Pantanal and the Historic Center of Cuiabá. The methodology is characterized by being qualitative and quantitative in nature, with qualitative analysis of data collected through questionnaires, supported by statistical analysis thereof. The research population consisted of three experts on the topic, being a manager of a state institution related to heritage, leader of an academic research group related to heritage and a researcher with experience in management related to heritage. The results highlight seven risk factors, namely: Fires, Deforestation, Climate change, Invasions, Violence, Conflicts, Water scarcity and Construction of hydroelectric plants, dams and similar, for which priority actions must be taken. The study can support actions to safeguard and preserve assets, contributing to the discussion on the preservation of cultural heritage in the state of Mato Grosso.
