The Brazilian legislation foresees the obligatory elaboration of health and safety prevention programs for workers subject to the labor regime of the Consolidation of Labour Laws (CLT), but which can also be applied for the public service. The main goal of this paper is presenting a proposal of a Risk Management Program (PGR), for a public educational institution in Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, Brazil, based on the minimum guidelines of the Regulatory Standard No. 1 - General Provisions and Management of Occupational Risks, of the Ministry of Labour and the State Department of Education of Mato Grosso. This is a case study, based on the "in loco" survey of occupational risks identified in the educational institution, which has the following categories of employees: teachers, technicians, and educational administrative support. The analysis was based on the risk classification using the Risk Matrix, considering the relationship between the probability of exposure to the risks and its severities. The workers exposure to physical, chemical, biological, mechanical, and especially ergonomic risks were found. The results allowed it to present subsidies for the elaboration of the Risk Management Program, composed of a risk inventory and an action plan, contributing to decision-making in the implementation of occupational safety and health programs in teaching environments, avoiding exposure to accidents and occupational diseases related to their functions during their working lives.
