Abstract

Paralympic powerlifting (PP) is a Paralympic sport that has been part of the Paralympic movement since the Tokyo 1964 Games and has developed widely in Brazil and worldwide. Considering this expansion, it becomes relevant to develop a study on PP, especially in the area of Para sport Pedagogy. Thus, the objective of the present study is to describe a proposal for teaching and learning PP. A descriptive and propositional methodology was used, considering the evolution from simple to more complex tasks and the theoretical model of Sport Pedagogy, adapted to Para sport. The proposal involves the following stages: initial approach, person-bench, person-bench-bar, person-bench-bar-person, and person-bench-bar-implements. These phases contemplate the domains of human movement, multiple intelligences, psychological and philosophical aspects, social learning, and the domain of health. The PP teaching-learning proposal includes application in different teaching locations of this sport, regardless of the condition of available material resources. In addition, it contributes to the development of studies in Para sport Pedagogy, which has a vast field for development.
