Ethics and Misconduct Policy, Errata and Retraction

The editor has a duty to act upon suspicion or allegation of identified misconduct. This investigation extends to both submissions and published articles.

Engineering and Science uses COPE flowcharts to investigate facts and determine the necessary actions in resolving cases. It also adopts the SciELO Guide for recording and publishing retractions.

Fees

Engineering and Science does not charge article submission and processing fees (APCs).

Ethics Committee

Based on Resolution No. 510, of April 7, 2016, which establishes the applicable standards for research in Human and Social Sciences, all manuscripts that involve the recruitment of participants and data collection involving human subjects in research must be accompanied by a copy of the approval from the Research Ethics Committee.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

Any use of AI, AGI, or LLMs must be explicitly stated in the Methodology section, specifying the tool, the version used, and the purpose (e.g., “ChatGPT, version XX, was used to assist in the linguistic review of the manuscript”). This information must also be added to the supplementary data document, which must be submitted along with the article.
