Política de Ciência Aberta
The journal Engineering and Science believes in the transparency and excellence of its publication services. In this sense, following the open science movement, it believes that the transparency and reproducibility of research through the open sharing of research data facilitates collaboration within the scientific community.
Therefore, in light of the philosophy that gives rise to the open science policy, it adopts the following practices:
*Authors and reviewers will be given the option to choose whether they wish to interact directly during the manuscript evaluation process;
*Reviewers will anonymously publish the opinions issued by the reviewers during the evaluation process;
*It supports the use of preprint servers and accepts manuscripts previously deposited in reliable servers, such as SciELO Preprints;
*It advises that the data resulting from research collection, as well as code, be shared and published in a reliable repository. We strongly recommend that data be deposited in SciELO Data after manuscript approval, and that the Research Data Deposit Guide be consulted for this purpose.
PREPRINTS
Before submitting to E&S, corresponding authors are strongly advised to publish a preprint on the "SciELO Preprints" platform.

A preprint is a preliminary version of a scientific article, made publicly available in online repositories (such as arXiv, bioRxiv.org, SciELO Preprints) before undergoing peer review and being published in a journal. It accelerates the dissemination of research, allows for early feedback, and is open and free to access.
Open Data
Data are the scientific records that validate the research results. Research data varies according to the field of knowledge and includes: textual documents, spreadsheets, statistics, laboratory notebooks, field notebooks, diaries, questionnaires, transcripts, audio files, videos, photographs, methodologies, workflows, partial reports, and other materials created and/or collected during the research process. These are based on the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable).
Engineering and Science advises that research data, as well as code, be shared and published in a reliable repository. Therefore, we strongly recommend that data be deposited in SciELO Data after manuscript approval, and that the Research Data Deposit Guide be consulted for this purpose.
If the data is hosted in a public repository, the article must indicate the repository name, data identification number, direct URL to the data, and DOI.
