Journal History
At the beginning of the foundation of the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT), engineering courses were linked to the Center for Exact Sciences and Technology (CCET). In 1968, the Civil Engineering course was started in 1970, there was a development, creating the courses of Electrical Engineering and Sanitary Engineering, later changed to Sanitary and Environmental, thus, the Faculty was created. of Technology and Engineering (FTEN). Years later, in 1995, the Architecture and Urbanism course was created, with that, the name of the department was changed to Faculty of Architecture, Engineering Technology (FAET). Currently, FAET consists of four undergraduate courses, namely: Civil, Electrical, Sanitary and Environmental Engineering and Architecture.
In 2008, there was a new restructuring in the Institute of Exact and Earth Sciences (ICET) linking the courses of: Master in Geosciences; Master's Degree in Mathematics; Master in Chemistry; Doctorate in Science and Mathematics; Master in Water Resources; Bachelor of Statistics; Bachelor of Geology; Bachelor of Chemistry; Chemistry Degree; Mathematics Degree; Statistic; General geology; Math; Chemistry and Mineral Resources. However, over the years the department has undergone changes and currently the ICET consists of courses in Statistics, Mathematics, Bachelor of Chemistry, Licentiate in Chemistry and Post-Graduation programs “stricto sensu”.
In summary, the electronic journal ES Engineering and Science was created with the intention of publishing scientific articles from the courses of the FAET and ICET (UFMT) departments. However, since 2014 it has been expanding its team and qualifying the platform in order to improve the dissemination of its content. Currently, the journal is not linked to the ICET department (UFMT) and, in addition, it started to publish articles from all over Brazil, as well as foreign articles.
Furthermore, the journal is published every four months for the dissemination of scientific works in Portuguese, English and Spanish, in areas related to engineering, in addition to being open to receive contributions from the scientific community, nationally and internationally.
LOGO: Since the time of the Greeks the color red represents knowledge. That said, it is noted that the acronyms ES are surrounded by red, as knowledge merges the two areas of interest “engineering/engineering” and “science/science”. However, from the outside, they show themselves as they really are: together, but also separated in blue, which symbolizes thinking and logical reasoning, favoring understanding.
Credit for the creation belongs to Professor Javier Eduardo Lopez Diaz. Master in Communication Sciences from the University of São Paulo (2000). He is currently a professor at the Federal University of Mato Grosso. He has experience in the field of Communication, with an emphasis on Advertising Communication, Brand Design, Branding, Signage Design, pictograms and graphics; Editorial and editorial layout; craft-to design.
