Abstract

This article aims to think about “sorcery” from an ethnographic point of view, based on a work carried out in Guaporé with the Makurap people, of Tupi-Tupari language. Based on the ways in which the theme of “sorcery” appears in this region, whether as an accusation between parents or as a form of predation of the jiboia, a comparative exercise with what Stengers and Pignarre call “capitalist sorcery” is proposed out of the contrast betwixt how the Makurap sorcery and the commodity fetichism of Marx.
