Abstract

the present article aims to analyze the dimension of representation of visual narratives, especially photographs, used in the constitution of intangible heritage. In this way, understanding how the imagery comes to represent the narrative that authorizes the heritage discourse is to seek the relationship between image and selection practice, since the selected images present an arbitrary choice. The tension is present in the spaces of the intangible heritage registration dossiers and they are the core of the debate. Whoever is selected, stresses what is intended to be called “heritage image”.
