This research analyzes the cultural practices surrounding the Tembé shaman in the Alto Rio Guamá Indigenous Land, northeast of the State of Pará. Establishes connections and evaluates interactions, loans and exchanges with practices of African and European origin, which reveal afroindigenous relations within the villages. Mapping the specificities of pajelança, practitioners and knowledge repertoires of Tembé do Guamá, it is clear how these people incorporated “exogenous” elements to creatively enhance their traditional practices and demarcate aspects of their identity and territoriality.
Keywords: Amazonian; afroindigenous relations; Tenetehar-Tembé people; cultural practices; territory and spirituality.
