Abstract

Considering the existence of different personal characteristics and the fact that diverse students and teachers are present within school environments, professional development in topics related to diversity and intersectionality results in the promotion of welcoming and inclusive school environments, both inside and outside the classroom. With this in mind, the aim of this review is to present the main points made in the book “Gender and sexuality in teacher training: converging concerns”, published in 2023 by Pimenta Cultural. We use the term “teacher” in the title to include all gender identities. The work addresses reflections on the importance of (re)thinking teaching practices for the inclusion of diverse students in the classroom, understanding and considering the intersectionalities and existing social demands.
