Abstract

The aim of the study was to compare the levels of stress, anxiety and depression between men and women with different levels of physical activity. An online form was created in which, for the level of physical activity, two questions were formulated, addressing the weekly volume of physical activity and the intensity of these activities. From the answers, the participants were classified based on the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) for the practice of physical activity in: (i) did not practice; (ii) they practiced, but did not reach the recommendations; and (iii) reached the recommendations.  To determine the levels of depression, anxiety and stress, the DASS-21 questionnaire was used. Two hundred and nine people participated in the study (women, n=131; men, n=78). Women had worse mental health outcomes than men. Furthermore, achieving the WHO physical activity recommendations was an important factor for better mental health outcomes.
