The hidden sorcerer, anthropology and revenge among the Jamamadi of the upper Purus

Abstract

Faced with an accusation of sorcery and the expression of a desire for revenge among the Jamamadi of the upper Purus, this article initially asks about the association with the context of the non-demarcation of the Indigenous Land. Recovering, then, narratively, the events of the field research period in which the accusation took place, but also the extent of the desire for revenge, the objective of this article is to establish conceptual and ethnological dialogues that make it possible to understand the relations mobilized by the Jamamadi, as well as reflect on the understanding of the State in its inflection in indigenous life, also as a author of sorcery and revenge, reversing the amerindian procedure by reaching the same indigenous people.
