Nos caminhos e ritmos das Lapas (Rio de Janeiro/RJ)

Abstract

This article aims to bring some reflections about the dynamics of uses and transformations related to the Lapa region, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Therefore, through ethnography, I bring notes from fragments experienced in Lapa through a methodological debate so that we can reflect on the interactions, ambivalences, paradoxes and contrasts present in the urban life of the contemporary city. In the midst of these steps that involve distinctions between the new and the old, tourist spotlights and ruins, degradation and valorization, it becomes possible to elaborate considerations on some urban dimensions of tourism in the Lapa region.
