Abstract

This article aims to analyze the role of land retaking as a method of resistance to the advancement of extractive frontiers and colonialism over territories of traditional indigenous occupation, focusing on analysis those carried out by the Terena of Buriti in Mato Grosso do Sul. The advance of economic policies focused on the exportation of commodities in Latin America, combined with the accumulation of resistance experiences, created a scenario in which land retaking presents itself as a way out, not only viable, but necessary, of the labyrinth created by agribusiness.
