Baía de Todos os Santos and Região Metropolitana de Salvador, BA: Quilombolas territories and contemporary conflicts

Abstract

The Região Metropolitana de Salvador (RMS) and the Baía Todos os Santos (BTS) have a considerable number of municipalities, overlapping in historical-geographic terms. The purpose of this article is to locate territories of contemporary quilombos certified by the Fundação Cultural Palmares in relation to the municipalities that make up each of these macro-regions. In a second movement, we identified the main conflicts faced by these collectives regarding their respective processes of territorialization and local permanence.
