Abstract

This article presents the elements that constituted the candidacy of Suzana Para’í to the Maricá City Council. Suzana Para’í is a Guarani Mbya from the village Ka'Aguy Hovy Porã in Maricá / RJ, an indigenous village that was formed after the invitation by Washington Quaquá, then Mayor of Maricá, for the group to occupy a part of the city's Environmental Protection Area. The aim is to link the motivations and action strategies established by Suzana Para'í's campaign to the possibilities consolidated at national level, as well as to the development of new forms of action to strengthen the group's territorialization process in the city.
