Decolonial historical analysis demonstrates that Brazilian universities act as colonialist institutions that promote whiteness. This article seeks to understand, through the trajectory of 4 black students at the University of Brasilia, the agency of black collectives as a practice of the re-existence of black ancestry, the academic marronage. The research was based on qualitative epistemology and the constructive interpretive method as a way of accessing the students' subjectivities. The cut favored the understanding of affectivity as a driver of identity construction.
Keywords: universities; black identity; marronage; embodiment; mental health.
