TheKaiowá and Guarani and the Brazilian State: borders, territories and identities in south Mato Grosso do Sul

Abstract

This article discusses how the practices of the Brazilian State act in the struggle to guarantee the indigenous rights of the Guarani and Kaiowá in southern Mato Grosso do Sul. The methodology comprises exercises with reflection on the elements of Guarani and Kaiowá life, the way of being and walk in the traditional territory and also the fragmentation of the Guarani in different national territories. The general objective is: “to demonstrate how the articulation of their actions that constituted the delimitations in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul denied the indigenous struggle of the Kaiowá and Guarani”
