Tortura moral na gestão do trabalho de professoras universitárias: dimensões de um dispositivo

Abstract

This article analyzes the elements that comprise a correction dispositif targeting female university professors who, while working in public higher education institutions, experience institutional violence. Based on the testimonies of five professors, we proceeded to the theoretical analysis of the dispositif in question. We observed that shared moral codes are used to justify the violence used as correction strategies, while the institutional hierarchy validates the institutionalized acts of violence that use procedures such as tenure-track evaluation, disciplinary administrative processes, requests for career promotion, among others, to persecute professors. The theoretical elaboration on the data resulted in the definition of the concept of moral torture as an appropriate name for the dispositif studied, specifying that it is institutionalized state violence and not merely a matter of interpersonal relationships.
