Abstract

This photo essay features sambistas, dancers and members foliões in the carnival parade of the oldest samba school in Vitória/ES, Unidos da Piedade. It also comments on the bonds created by young sambistas with associations in the city of RJ, an aspect that continued in the trajectory of Unidos da Piedade. This highlights the importance of transmitting knowledge between generations of sambistas and the continuity of reciprocal social ties that contribute to the formation of samba as an element of local socialization.
