Abstract

The general aim of this research is to analyse the experiences of black gay students when they enter under graduate courses at the Federal University of Piauí. It use a qualitative, descriptive and critical methodology. The data was produced through semi-structured interviews with cisgender black gay students at UFPI. Face-to-face interviews and virtual sessions were heldusing the Google Meet digital platform. The accounts of cisgender black gay students contribute to a broader understanding of the intersectionalities between race, gender and sexuality in higher education and how these intersections shape students experiences and opportunities, reaffirming and breaking down historically established social roles. The interviewees' statements also reveal the processes of reproduction of racismo and homophobia in the university setting, as black gay students are constantly faced with various forms of violence that are socially rooted.
