Workplaces must provide adequate conditions for the safe performance of tasks, since the health and physical integrity of workers are essential elements in the work context. Generally, the building maintenance and work safety sectors operate separately, both in the public and private sectors. The objective of this study was to evaluate the connection between occupational health/safety through the Brazilian Regulatory Norms (NRs) and building inspection activities. To carry out this study, a federal public building located in the city of Cuiabá/MT was chosen as the object of study, the normative methodology of building inspection was applied and an evaluation was carried out on the direct or indirect contribution of building inspection to health and safety at work. . The results demonstrated the importance of continuous and preventive building maintenance and its intrinsic link with the proactive management of health and safety at work, thus pointing to an administrative reorganization of the entities joining these sectors to optimize the results.
