EFECTOS DE LA DANZA EN LA COGNICIÓN DE PERSONAS MAYORES

UNA REVISIÓN INTEGRATIVA

Resumen

La demencia es una de las principales causas de reducción de la independencia y la calidad de vida en los adultos mayores. Con el aumento de la prevalencia mundial, las intervenciones no farmacológicas, como la danza, son cruciales para el envejecimiento saludable. Realizar una revisión integradora de la literatura para analizar la evidencia sobre los efectos de la práctica de la danza en los aspectos cognitivos de las personas mayores. Se realizó una revisión integrativa en las bases de datos PubMed y LILACS. Se incluyeron ensayos clínicos y estudios observacionales publicados en los últimos cinco años, en inglés, portugués o español, que involucraran la danza como intervención y la cognición como resultado. Catorce estudios cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión, totalizando 887 participantes. Las muestras incluyeron adultos mayores sanos y con deterioro cognitivo leve (DCL), predominantemente del sexo femenino. La mayoría de los estudios (12) informaron mejoras significativas en la cognición global, la memoria y las funciones ejecutivas, así como beneficios en la estructura cerebral y biomarcadores como el BDNF. La danza también tuvo un impacto positivo en el estado de ánimo y el equilibrio. La danza se presenta como una intervención eficaz para la mejora cognitiva, la neuroplasticidad y el bienestar de los adultos mayores. Sin embargo, la heterogeneidad de las intervenciones sugiere la necesidad de estandarización en futuras investigaciones.
