Abstract

This work articulates a reflection on the relationship between education, citizenship, democracy and national development in the post-Covid-19 pandemic, in national basic education. The literature review presents aspects of the application of systems and technological tools to mitigate the impacts and/or negative effects resulting from the interruption of face-to-face classes in public schools. It is a qualitative study, with an exploratory, bibliographic and descriptive character, which used research data that portray learning losses and school dropouts that reverberate in the citizenship education of students, with repercussions on democratic society and the development of the country. It thus portrays a post-pandemic context that has further exposed the weaknesses of the public and formal education system in terms of infrastructure, accessibility and quality of education to, in the end, promote a reflection on the possible future and growing challenges of public education after this period of exception.
