Occupational risks in semi-mechanized forest harvesting: a case study. Semi-mechanized cutting of wood presents physical, ergonomic and environmental occupational risks to the workers involved. By prioritizing the health and safety of workers, companies can reduce leaves from accidents, the burden of injuries and occupational diseases, and at the same time, increase productivity and overall well-being. In view of the above, this work aimed to conduct a case study on the occupational risks of semi-mechanized wood cutting. The study was conducted in operational timber harvesting areas in the northern mesoregion of Minas Gerais, in Eucalyptus sp. plantations. subjected to clear-cutting at seven years of age. The methodology was organized in two stages: in the first stage, 29 operators participated in a questionnaire with 25 questions about the perception of workers in relation to Occupational Health and Safety (OSH). In the second stage, an occupational risk analysis was conducted by specialists to identify and characterize all the risks and dangers of the semi-mechanized logging operation. The results show that chainsaw operators tend to underestimate ergonomic issues, the importance of using personal protective equipment (PPE) and certain operational risks that should be reinforced in training.
