Abstract

Geographical Education has been seen by some authors as a potential enhancer of citizenship, contributing to students' understanding of the Geographic Space and its dynamics, enabling awareness and civic thinking, thus acting towards transforming their reality and that of their peers. With the advancement of Brazilian legislation regarding the rights of Persons with Disabilities and Special and Inclusive Education, there has been a significant increase in this audience in classrooms. In this context, it is essential for Geography Education to meet the educational needs of all students. In this study, we aimed to identify the degree of importance that geographical science, through academic research, has placed on issues related to Persons with Disabilities in Geographical Education. To achieve this, we conducted a bibliometric study on the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations and developed a discussion highlighting relevant issues and identifying areas requiring greater attention.
