Cases of recurrence of hanseníase in the urban área of Barra do Garças-MT

The objective of this paper was to identify the relapsed cases of leprosy in the urban area of Barra do Garças-MT. Thus, initially, a bibliographic review was carried out on the topic discussed, concomitantly with data collection using the Outpatient Care Records of the Health Reference Center/CECAP/Municipal Health Department of Barra do Garças - MT. The data representing a historical series from March 1970 to February 2020 were organized in a spreadsheet environment for the construction of a table and thematic map. In a geoprocessing environment, the elaboration of the map was carried out. During the study period, 389 leprosy records were identified, with the highest number of cases in the Vila Santo Antônio neighborhoods (54); São José (45) and Vila Maria Gomes (30) which are located in peripheral areas lacking basic infrastructure. In Barra do Garças, the transmission of leprosy has remained at Hyperedemic levels since 2018 according to the indicators and with high rates of recurrence. It was concluded that in order to be successful in the surveillance and prevention of leprosy, concrete actions must be developed, with intersectoral support, from the economic, social, and environmental sectors, considering the social determination of health. Also, guided by health promotion paradigms, disease prevention and control actions must seek support from society's institutions, in the territory, through social mobilization.
