Certificação Socioambiental: Oportunidades para o Etanol Brasileiro
Abstract
Este artigo tem como objetivo propor a certificação socioambiental para a cultura da cana-de-açúcar como ferramenta de garantia da produção sustentável do etanol brasileiro, reduzindo a assimetria de informações com o mercado externo, mitigando ou eliminando barreiras não tarifárias ao produto. O estudo evidenciou que as crescentes exigências relacionadas à produção sustentável dos biocombustíveis poderá ser fator limitante à conquista do mercado externo pelo etanol brasileiro. Desta forma, são fornecidas duas opções para a certificação socioambiental na produção do etanol: a primeira parte da adoção de certificados específicos como a ISO 14001, SA 8000 e NBR 16001; a segunda, na adaptação de certificações socioambientais integrados em uso no País como a Rede de Agricultura Sustentável (RAS), a Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) e o padrão ProTerra.
