Microbiological solubilization of phosphorus on nutritional management of grapevines

ABSTRACT: Phosphorus bioavailability for integrated phosphate fertilizer management involves using microorganisms that naturally make this element soluble for plants. The study evaluated the inoculation of the bacterium Pseudomonas fluorescens on phosphate solubilization and the structure of the microbial community in soil cultivated with grapevines in the Submiddle São Francisco Valley region of Petrolina, Pernambuco, using the Sweet Celebration variety. The design included three treatments: control (standard farm management), one application of P. fluorescens, and four weekly applications, both at a dose of 100 mL ha-1. Soluble phosphorus in soil and leaves, soil pH, chlorophylls A and B, and quantification and identification of total microorganisms, including bacteria, fungi, and yeasts, were analyzed. The data were subjected to the 5% Tukey test and demonstrated that inoculation with P. fluorescens increases soluble phosphorus in the soil and leaves, increases chlorophylls A and B, reduces pH, and promotes balance in the soil microbial community. Thus, inoculation with P. fluorescens may improve phosphorus nutritional management in grapevines grown in the Submiddle São Francisco Valley region.
