Abstract

Geography is a fundamental and dynamic science in contemporary times, as its object of study – geographic space and the multiple relationships between society and nature – adapts and evolves in conjunction with the analysis of spatialized phenomena in different categories of analysis. In the context of Basic Education, its teaching is essential, as it aims to provide students with an understanding of everyday reality with a conscious and critical perspective. When dealing with twin cities on the border, this challenge becomes even greater and more necessary due to the complexity of these territories. Therefore, this article aims to provide a theoretical overview of the concepts of border and twin cities, and to propose alternative approaches to content in thematic units for the teaching of Geography, according to the guidelines of the National Common Curriculum Base (2018), considering the conceptualization established by national regulations.
