Abstract

School cartography is fundamental for teaching at different levels. Thus, the objective of this research is to carry out a literature review on publications in school cartography around the world. A literature review used a hybrid, bibliometric and systematic approach. From the bibliographical perspective, the quantitative approach was valued, through Bibliometrix metrics, through the R software. For this research, the search string “School Cartography” was used. The systematic approach was carried out through qualitative analysis, specificities, target audience and synthesis of approaches. The results revealed the mapping of 826 publications, among which 535 and 291 from the Scopus (Sco) and Web Of Science (WoS) databases, respectively, published from 1966 to 2022, a total period covering 56 years, excluding the ranges, which generated 720 publications. There was a predominance of research for children and adolescents from a humanist perspective, in which cartography via mental maps was highlighted for follow-up analysis on various aspects of reality.
