Abstract

The teaching of geography is a journey aimed at unraveling the world around us, and every student, regardless of their educational specificities, deserves to fully participate in this exploration. Tactile teaching resources represent facilitating tools that should be incorporated into the school environment to promote access to this information, particularly cartographic representations. With the intention of diversifying Geography education from the perspective of inclusive education, this article presents a methodological proposal that utilizes tactile teaching resources in the education of blind students. To achieve this, we developed a didactic sequence, divided into two parts, using five resources made from low-cost materials, allowing for their reproduction according to the reality of each school environment and audience. Thus, the proposal and use of tactile teaching resources, with the mediation of the teacher as pedagogical guide, aim to overcome the difficulties encountered in the construction of geographical knowledge by visually impaired students. Through Tactile Cartography and the encouragement of spatial thinking, significant improvements in the understanding of geographical concepts are expected, promoting student participation in the learning process.
