Keywords:
Education of the deaf, School inclusion, TeacherAbstract
The main objective of this article is to analyze the implications of teaching Geography to deaf students in a state school in the regular education network in the city of Itabaiana-SE. To this end, a case study was used and data collection procedures included a semi-structured interview with the Geography teacher and direct observation in the class in which the professional teaches. The results indicate that inclusion, in the investigated institution, only complies with the bureaucratic system and regulatory requirements. With regard to geographic content, there is a loss for deaf students in their acquisition as there is difficulty in communication between teacher/student due to the lack of command of sign language – LS.
