The objective of this work is to analyze the consumers' perception of the potentialities and limitations of the new means of payment in Valença do Piauí/PI. In this research, a descriptive, exploratory study with a quantitative approach was used. The study sample consists of 100 participants, over 18 years old, who somehow move the economy of the city of Valença do Piauí/PI. Data were collected through an online questionnaire sent to participants via Google Forms. It is concluded that the potential and limitations of the new means of payment are directly linked to people's daily lives. Cash was the main form of payment used, followed by Pix, and all survey participants said they were satisfied with the method they used. The reason for choosing certain types of payment is mainly due to practicality, in addition to security, speed and convenience.
