BIGGEST BRAZILIAN FOOTBALL CLUBS FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF PATRIMONIAL AND FINANCIAL RESULTS
Abstract
This study aimed to identify and rank the value of total assets, operating income and net income of the largest Brazilian football clubs, based on the financial statements for the year 2018. A quantitative study was carried out to seek confirmation or not of two hypotheses study: H1 the greater the asset, the greater the revenue collected, which was not confirmed in its entirety, of the six clubs that were left with an asset value above average, four of them remained above average in the revenue ranking operational; on the other hand, the three clubs with the lowest Assets also recorded the lowest revenues in the period analyzed. As for H2, the higher the revenue, the greater the profit generated, it is partially confirmed, not exactly in the same hierarchical position, but, within the group "above average" and "below average", most clubs that had the highest revenues also generated the best financial results. It is concluded that there may be several reasons for the non-confirmation of these hypotheses, including: the number of competitions (Brazil Cup, Brazilian championship, liberators, state, friendlies) and/or games played, management professionalization, contracts with rights to transmission, ticket sales, product sales, contracts with different sponsors, athlete sales, among others.
