¿Qué les preocupa? ¿Qué les molesta? El género y la sexualidad, nociones peligrosas para algunas iglesias (neo)pentecostales de Uruguay
Keywords:

This article is based on an ethnographic research that focuses on analyzing the impact of (neo)Pentecostal churches in Uruguay on the life trajectories and subjectivities of their members, particularly in terms of gender models and affective-sexual relationships. In the current context of growing neoconservatism and antagonism towards gender-related issues, these churches have emerged as prominent political actors on both local and international levels, opposing abortion, non-normative sexualities, and laws promoting gender equality and sexual and reproductive rights.
The aim is to understand how sexuality and political discourses intertwine and permeate the experiences of the people attending these churches. Discourses not only construct reality but also become embodied in people's practices, whether by reproducing, resisting, or modifying them. Sexuality, reproduction, and gender are central topics for these churches, making it essential to unravel the meanings they construct around these matters.
In this text, I will analyze the conceptions of gender and sexuality in this religious context based on my fieldwork, including participant observation in services and worship sessions of (neo)Pentecostal churches and interviews with religious leaders and members of these communities. The goal is to shed light on the influence of these churches on people's lives and on contemporary discussions regarding gender and sexuality.
