Abstract

This work seeks to understand the relationships between space and time that are related  to “Solar da Fossa”, an apart hotel located in the neighborhood of Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro, where a large part of the artistic class and counterculture in Brazil lived in the mid-1960s. Through the idea of “pornotopia” created by Paul Preciado (2010), the research seeks to reinterpret the relationship between spatialities and sexualities in the Brazilian context, but focusing mainly on the dimension of time as the organizer of a new subjectivity. The essay proposes to understand the dictatorship as a time frame that reorganized the idea of the future for young people, allowing breaks in the normative chronological order that was organized around reproductive life. Based on news, interviews and narratives about the experience at “Solar”, this work proposes to show connections between subjectivities, experience of time in space and the spatialization of time. Thus, the essay proposes to demonstrate how “queer temporalities” (HALBERSTAM, 2022) were effects of power, under the sign of the agency of sexual life around dissident experiences.
