Comparação de precipitação entre Monjolos e Pita, São Gonçalo (RJ)

Abstract

The aim of this study is to compare the precipitation profile of two rainfall stations in the municipality of São Gonçalo - RJ between 2020 and 2023. One station is located near Guanabara Bay (Pita) and the other in the interior of the municipality (Monjolos), 16 km apart. Both have an average profile of higher rainfall totals during the rainy season (from November to April) and lower totals during the dry season (from May to October). However, the two stations are moderately correlated, with many days of rainfall in one location and no rainfall in the other. Checking the frequency of daily events shows that in Pita there are more events in total, mostly in the 0.1-2.5 mm/day class, while in Monjolos there is a predominance of events in the 5-10 mm/day rainfall class. This work aims to contribute to a better understanding of rainfall in São Gonçalo, given the history of disturbances in the municipality associated with the variable.
