Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the mediating role of hope in the relationships between depression and anxiety and job satisfaction in the context of the COVID 19 pandemic. The research carried out was descriptive, with quantitative data and a cross-sectional cut. The final sample counted 234 responses, selected by the convenience sampling technique and the snowball method. Data analysis was carried out through structural equation modeling with partial least squares (PLS) estimation. The results showed a negative direct effect between the relationships: depression and hope and anxiety and hope, and a positive direct effect between hope and job satisfaction. Additionally, a mediating effect of hope in the relationships between depression and job satisfaction was identified, as well as hope played a mediating role in the relationship between anxiety and job satisfaction. Thus, the present study contributes to demonstrate the role of hope as an important factor to contribute to the decrease of satisfaction when faced with anxiety and depression at work in times that were assailed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
