LA MEDIATION ARTISTIQUE DANS L’INVENTION DE SOI: GEORGE SAND, AUTOBIOGRAPHE ET MELOMANE

Resumo

Histoire de ma vie, autobiographie de la romancière française George Sand, publiée en 1854 et 1855, offre un exemple parmi d’autres de construction symbolique du sujet par l’écriture. Toutefois, Sand se dote d’une identité singulière, moins littéraire (dans l’affirmation d’une vocation d’écrivain) que musicale (« j’étais née musicienne »). Le moi qui se ramasse, se déchiffre et se dit dans ces pages se veut « artiste », voué à produire des sons, doté d’une identité primitive que l’écriture aurait ensuite offusquée. Le récit d’enfance s’organise dès lors au fil des premiers souvenirs musicaux, reconstitués par la mémoire et interprétés par l’écriture. L’expérience auditive présiderait, avant l’entrée dans la médiation du verbe, à la naissance à soi du sujet, corps sensible, conscience réflexive et mémoire. L’écoute et la production musicales mettent aussi en question la singularité d’un individu ouvert à l’échange et au partage sensibles. Histoire de ma vie offre ainsi l’exemple littéraire d’un processus de subjectivation construit par les mots, mais fondé sur l’expérience, sensorielle, culturelle, individuelle et collective, des arts du son.

The artistic mediation in the invention of the self: george sand As autobiographer and Melomaniac

ABSTRACT: Histoire de ma vie, French novelist George Sand’s autobiography, published in 1854 and 1855, offers an example, among others, of the symbolic construction of the subject by writing. However, Sand is endowed with a unique identity, less literary (in the affirmation of her vocation as a writer) than musical (“I was born musician”). The self that focuses on herself, deciphers herself and speaks of herself in these pages sees herself as an “artist”, devoted to producing sounds and endowed with a primitive identity that writing would then overshadow. Thus, the narrative of infancy organizes itself around the first musical recollections, recovered by memory and interpreted in writing. Before the entrance in verbal mediation, the auditive experience would determine the birth of the self, the subject, the sensitive body, the reflexive consciousness and memory. Musical hearing and production also question the singularity of an individual who is open to sensitive sharings and interchanges. Histoire de ma vie offers then the literary example of a process of subjectivation built by words, but based on the sensorial, cultural, individual and collective experience of the art of sounds.

RESUMO: Histoire de ma vie, autobiografia da romancista francesa George Sand, publicada em 1854 e 1855, oferece um exemplo, dentre outros, da construção simbólica do sujeito pela escritura. Todavia, Sand se dota de uma identidade singular, menos literária (na afirmação de uma vocação de escritora) que musical (“eu tinha nascido musicista”). O eu que se concentra em si mesmo, que se decifra e que se diz nestas páginas se quer “artista”, devotado a produzir sons, dotado de uma identidade primitiva que a escritura teria em seguida ofuscado. A narrativa da infância se organiza então no decorrer das primeiras lembranças musicais, reconstituídas pela memória e interpretadas pela escritura. Antes da sua entrada na mediação do verbo, a experiência auditiva determinaria o nascimento – a si mesmo – do sujeito, do corpo sensível, da consciência reflexiva e da memória. A escuta e a produção musicais colocam também em questão a singularidade de um indivíduo aberto a trocas e partilhas sensíveis. Histoire de ma vie oferece assim o exemplo literário de um processo de subjetivação construído pelas palavras, mas, fundado sobre a experiência sensorial, cultural, individual e coletiva das artes do som.
