SEMÂNTICA TAOÍSTA

Resumo

O objetivo deste ensaio é mostrar que é possível falar-se em uma semântica de base taoísta, a despeito de a semântica em geral ser de difícil delimitação. Os principais tópicos de interesse da semântica taoísta são o próprio conceito de tao, inclusive toda a simbologia taoísta, como o símbolo do tai chi, os trigramas e suas funções. As áreas semânticas de mais interesse são as de espacialidade e temporalidade, tanto as que envolvem o sujeito (EU) e seus entornos imediato e mediato, a dêixis e as qualidades e ações a eles relacionadas. Outra área é a dos conceitos polares (preto/branco, feio/bonito etc.), encarados como complementares, e não antagônicos como na cultura ocidental. Discute-se ainda a relação língua e mundo, ou palavra e coisa.

  TAOIST SEMANTICS

ABSTRACT: The main objective of this article is to show that it is possible to talk of a Taoism-based semantics, although semantics in general is ill-defined. After an exposition of some of the most important taoist concepts and symbols, we have some of the main topics studied by taoist semantics, including spatiality and temporality, which involves the immediate and mediate environs of the subject (I), as well as the qualities and actions related to them. Polar concepts (black/white, ugly/beautiful etc.) also belong here, and they are seen as a complementary and forming a whole, not as opposite and antagonic as in the West. Finally, the article discusses the relation between language and world, or word and thing.
