Applicability of ANATRO for age and growth monitoring: Case Study of the Amazonian Species Qualea dinizii Ducke, northwestern Mato Grosso, Brazil

The case study aims to evaluate the application of ANATRO as an alternative tool for determining the age and monitoring the diametric increment of the Amazonian species Qualea dinizii Ducke. The species under study shows significant potential according to the importance value index (IVI), due to its ecological relevance and spatial occupation within the forest. The samples were collected from a fragment of natural forest in the Amazon biome in northwestern Mato Grosso. The research was conducted using the ANATRO methodology and forest inventory. The results indicated the periodicity of the growth rings for the species, making it possible to partially reconstruct the growth in height, diameter (radius) and determine the ages of the trees for the Amazonian species Qualea dinizii: 144 years for tree A0, Dap of 70.00 cm; A1 at 79 years, Dap of 23.23 cm; A2 at 74 years, Dap of 24.82 cm; A3 at 47 years, Dap of 25.14 cm and A4 at 96 years and Dap of 38.83 cm. The research contributes to providing annual information on the growth rate of the Amazonian species, helping as indicators of intervention in the forest and the applicability of ANATRO as an implement in the monitoring practices of sustainable forest management in the region and the study of growth rings. And, as a subsidy to estimate the time depending on age for the recovery of an area that has been deforested.
